The day I got to know Lightning Network for the first time.
Back when I was working at a startup firm, we were developing point-of-sale systems, and I was heavily involved in product development as well as market research. As a result, I have a better grasp of how money transactions function.
But the more I do it, the more I feel like we’re seeing ourselves through the eyes of the system. I’ve always wanted to move vertical in product, but being a payment gateway was difficult for a tiny firm. To accomplish this, it requires a license including several rules. It’s feel like sky has a limit.
I’m a guy who has been following Bitcoin and other crypto currencies for a long time. I always dreamt about sending Bitcoin faster, but it’s no way near reality for Bitcoin to become mass adoption or have a real use case because of its lag in speed. But for micropayments, it’s all about speed and low fee.
Silver lightning in 2017
Since the first day of the Lightning Network white paper’s release, I have been so excited, and we’re not waiting to try to connect to other nodes. It’s like an experiment now that we see more computers connecting to each other permissionless. And in that time, I see clearly that this will be a game changer and it will be a very big paradigm shift for money. This is the only way to send value in Bitcoin from A to B, and B will be able to receive it before the value changes when compared to fiat currency.
Lightning Sticker
Anyone who connects to lighting can purchase a cool sticker from Block Stream. That is the only cool thing to have and it reminds you that it’s real! The Lightning network is functional and adequate for a storefront.
Since first week of mainnet it was fun to keep watching node number running up higher. At that time it grow from 200–300 in few days and double 300–600 and it seem like node was double in every 2–3 days this is exponential and it’s grow quickly to thousand. Something is going on here. This is cryptocurrency micropayment system. It’s done.!
Not just for shop it’s for country
Fast forward to Bitcoin 2021 in Miami. It was a huge surprise. The announcement on the main stage from Nayib Bukele, the present of El Salvador, announces that the country will adopt Bitcoin as legal tender and the country’s reserve will be Bitcoin. I remember that moment, my eyes watery…
I was emotional at that moment. Because, throughout my Bitcoin journey, I frequently do a reality check to ensure that my feet are firmly on the ground in terms of my perspective on Bitcoin. But this time it’s come to be widely accepted on a grand scale. Furthermore, all shops and businesses must accept Bitcoin payment, and for this part, the Lightning Network is an underlined technology.
It reminds me of the first month of Lightning Network with $39,000 value in it. Today when I publish this blog nodes growing to 36,388 nodes and it contain $146,923,799. We’ve come so far from day one and this time Country is coming to Bitcoin. I expect to see “Bitcoin hypernization” from now on.
